Catherine Woodbury & Strawberry Candy Daylilies

Catherine Woodury DaylilyStrawberry Candy Daylilies & Catherine Woodbury DaylilyThe Catherine Woodbury IS BACK. As my mother would have said: It’s a miracle. My mother loved flowers. I remember times when she was sad because a precious flower disappeared from the flower bed to then a year or two, or even after longer, be back. The Catherine Woodbury was away, according to my photo albums, since 2016. I say welcome back. The Strawberry Candy yesterday had the most number of flowers in bloom on one day. As many as six 🙂

Strawberry Candy daylilies

Yes, yes, yes . . . First two Strawberry Candy lilies are in bloom. There will be more. It was pretty dark and rainy practically all day. I went for a walk at about 6:30 pm. Half way I noticed the sun is shining. I walked as fast as I possible could to get home before all the dark clouds at the other side of the lake would be here. I made it and was able to shoot a couple of photos with a bit of sunshine through the branches of the oak tree in the neihgbor’s garden.

Daylilies

Of the daylilies the first to bloom is the one I call yellow/orange lily. Then, soon, very soon, maybe tomorrow, the Strawberry Candy lilies will bloom. This is the first time there are as many stems as nine. Then there is one with three stems which I am not sure of what it is. But, I really hope it is the pink one called Catherine Woodbury which disappeared some years ago. Or it may be an other one, an orange one which also disappeared a year or two ago. We’ll see.

Flowers

My friend offered us her green house for free. Yesterday we were there to have a look at it. (By the way. The restrictions also for people over 70 are eased. Despite that, we are still going to be careful.) She said it is 2 m x 3 m. But, we felt we still wanted to see it our selves before we will be able to decide whether to take it or not. I would love to have it but we have not yet been able to find out where to put it in our yard. Both front and back yard are pretty small. I hope we will figure it out.

Her garden is huge. She has so many different flowers. There are flower in bloom from early spring to late fall. Here are just a couple randomly shot snap shots. I like the seed capsules of the poppies. I would love to have of the yellow lilies in my garden. She, couple of years ago gave me Tiger lilies. Hmm, I think I will ask if I could have one or two of the yellow ones.

Almost Mid September

Time flies. Almost mid September already. It has been raining quite a lot. No night frost yet but, I think I will move the flowers in pots, the dahlias and begonias, indoors for the winter any day now. Today the last bud of the Strawberry Candy day lily is in bloom. Yesterday while I was shooting the last photos of the summer of the dahlias and begonias our cat kept me company from the top of the fence post. Strawberry Candy Daylily

Daylily IMG_8452CDaylily IMG_8462CDaylily IMG_8466CIn my post of yesterday I mentioned my concern it was too cold for the petals of the first Strawberry Candy daylily flower to unfold. Luckily I was wrong. It was a bit chilly in the morning and it took the flower a bit longer to unfold than usually. The afternoon was nice and warm and the flower unfolded to normal size.
