July too was, as June, so, so warm and sunny. I either read or heard it was the warmest ever. So when it dropped from the about 29-33 Celsius we had for weeks, the about 20 which is more normal here, now actually feels cold. Here are some July photos. Oh dear ! Time flies. It’s already Midsummer.
I was in Helsinki on Wednesday. It was a nice surprise to see these beautiful dahlias still in bloom. My dahlias have no flowers anymore. I will move them into the garage for the winter.
Autumn at it’s best. Warm, sunny days. About 15-18 degrees. Blue skies. Here are some photos from the last few days. The dahlia ”Fire and Ice” is still in bloom. A yellow autumn hawkbit and the rose nip. Plus two photos of our cat Jacky. He is eating grass.
The red/white dahlia has been in bloom already for some time now. The flowers are always in red and white. There may be more or less of the white color but, the red is practically always dominating. Last week I saw one almost only in white. The red/whites are about 8 cm in diameter. The white is much smaller. I think only half the size. But, sooo beautiful, at least in a close up photo.
The flowers in pots, those I take in for the winter, almost all are in bloom now. Except for one which probably will bloom in the beginning of next week. Last summer they all were blooming until mid September. After a frost night I moved them indoors. Here is is the red Dahlia.
Time flies. Almost mid September already. It has been raining quite a lot. No night frost yet but, I think I will move the flowers in pots, the dahlias and begonias, indoors for the winter any day now. Today the last bud of the Strawberry Candy day lily is in bloom. Yesterday while I was shooting the last photos of the summer of the dahlias and begonias our cat kept me company from the top of the fence post. 
When I got this Dahlia five years ago the label said ”Dahlia, Fire and Ice”. I have looked for photos of Fire and Ice. None of them look like mine. They all are in white and red. The white dominating. So, Fire and Ice or not, I think mine really look like fire.
Also my red Dahlia is in bloom. So red. Love it. I should have bought a new, a larger pot this spring. But, I forgot to do it. Will do it next spring.
I, today, bought this green butterfly. I think it looks so nice in the Dahlia pot.
