Canelo ~ Favorite Pictures

Here, one more time, some of my favorite pictures of him.

Two year’s ago Canelo had an tumor operation. That was when the vet told us that unfortunately Canelo suffer from mild kidney failure. Since then he was on medication. We had regular check ups. Last in October. The vet let us know the levels were increased. On Friday evening, today four weeks ago, we took him to the vet in the evening. Fearing the worst but, still hoping the vet would be able to help him. It was absolutely devastating to be told the only right thing is to let him go. I cried but, was able to keep it under some control. I held him in my arms and talked to him until the vet told me it was over. I kissed him and hugged him and told him good bye and that I love him. We paid and went to the car. That’s when I couldn’t help myself anymore. I cried all the way home, all evening and the next day too. I am heartbroken and still cry many, many times a day. I think of him all the time. Good thing is I had the courage to stay with him till the end. Only when our first cat left us I didn’t have the strength to stay with her which I have regretted ever after. After that I have stayed with each and everyone. It took me five days before I was ready to go out for daily walks without my Canelo.

Two weeks ago I had a dream. I dreamed that my husband and I were together in a shop. I saw a dog on the floor. He lifted  his head and looked at me, straight into my eyes. It was Canelo. I was overwhelmingly happy. We looked at each other for a while. I received so much love and warmth from his beautiful eyes. Then, I got a message from him, telling me “I’m OK”. He put his head back onto the floor. At that moment I woke up. It was morning. I had the most wonderful, warm, relaxed feeling which lasted for some days. The moment still is very vivid on my mind.

What a wonderful time it has been to have him in our lives for almost twelve years. We took him with us everywhere, all the time. We made many road trips, both abroad and here. He warmly welcomed our Jacky cat one and a half year ago. Just as had Quam and Quismo welcomed him into the family when he was a baby. Canelo was always so happy, friendly, gentle and playful. What he loved most of all was playing with tennis balls. He loved to swim in the lake. We loved the long daily walks. The walks for the last times were shorter but we still enjoyed the walks down to the lake. He always patiently waited while I took photos.

I am so happy and thankful for the two more years we got to have him after the operation and after he was diagnosed the kidney failure. I want to think he now is with his cat brothers, Quam and Quismo. Canelo, we all miss you so, so much.

We Miss Our Canelo

Yesterday was one sad, sad day. We had to let the vet put him down. He would have turned 12 on May 16^th. We miss him so much. I can’t stop crying.

Rest in peace dear Canelo. You will always be in our hearts  ❤ ❤ ❤

Today Jacky has been with us for one year. Thank you so much to our friends for letting us have him. Here are some photos from yesterday and this morning plus one of “brother” Canelo.

The spring I hope . . .

The beginning of May has been unusually cold. I read it has not been this cold a spring in 60 years ! This week it was snowing Monday-Thursday. Cold or not ! It was time to take Canelo to a groomer. Good thing I did that because today was pretty warm.

Jacky loves the warmth. The ground is dry and warm and so is the sun. He stayed out in the backyard almost all day. I went to take a couple of pictures of him. My husband shouted from the kitchen: why don’t you take a video clip. Thanks, good idea. I haven’t recorded anything yet with my new smart phone. Will be interesting to see how a video clip turns out to be. When I was recording a bird landed on a branch in the tree. My first thought was he might try to chase it. He didn’t move. He was watching with interest and said something. I think he said look mommy, look how close the bird is.

Spring :)

Wednesday 15th was the first real spring day. Plus 9 degrees Celsius. Yay 😀 Roads and sidewalks are bare from snow. Still snow in our backyard. But it will disappear quickly enough as it was also warm yesterday, 8 C, and raining in the night. Best time of the year.

Snapshots

Jacky’s first Christmas and Christmas tree 🙂   Santa brought him this tube which he loves a lot. Hubby says it looks like a canoe.

Canelo got a green hippo from Santa.  Watching the birds is tiresome.  I need a nap. The flower is purrfect for that.

Before & After

Canelo needed a grooming. So we took him to the groomer yesterday. This was the first time since Jacky came into the family. Oh my, you should have seen Jacky’s face when we came back home. His jaw dropped. Eyes and mouth wide open he stared at Canelo. What on earth happened to you ? ? And you really smell oddly ! All afternoon and evening he just had to sniff, lick and touch him. Canelo felt a bit annoyed and told him to leave him alone. This morning things are back to normal 🙂

Canelo & Jacky

The circle cat toy with a ball in it is a favorite toy. Jacky plays with it every day. He is able to make the ball spin around super fast. Canelo thinks it sounds so funny and wants to do it too. So they do it together. Canelo cannot make the ball run as fast as Jacky. But, I think they are so cute and I love to watch them. Sometimes we even see Canelo playing with the toy all by himself. Sorry about the background noise which is the dishwasher.
