Catherine Woodbury Daylily

Here are three photos from yesterday when there was one flower in bloom of this beautiful daylily. Today there are two flowers in bloom. Of course I have to take photos of them too. Will post them later today or then tomorrow.

Catherine Woodbury & Strawberry Candy Daylilies

The Catherine Woodbury IS BACK. As my mother would have said: It’s a miracle. My mother loved flowers. I remember times when she was sad because a precious flower disappeared from the flower bed to then a year or two, or even after longer, be back. The Catherine Woodbury was away, according to my photo albums, since 2016. I say welcome back. The Strawberry Candy yesterday had the most number of flowers in bloom on one day. As many as six 🙂

Strawberry Candy daylilies

Yes, yes, yes . . . First two Strawberry Candy lilies are in bloom. There will be more. It was pretty dark and rainy practically all day. I went for a walk at about 6:30 pm. Half way I noticed the sun is shining. I walked as fast as I possible could to get home before all the dark clouds at the other side of the lake would be here. I made it and was able to shoot a couple of photos with a bit of sunshine through the branches of the oak tree in the neihgbor’s garden.

Of the daylilies the first to bloom is the one I call yellow/orange lily. Then, soon, very soon, maybe tomorrow, the Strawberry Candy lilies will bloom. This is the first time there are as many stems as nine. Then there is one with three stems which I am not sure of what it is. But, I really hope it is the pink one called Catherine Woodbury which disappeared some years ago. Or it may be an other one, an orange one which also disappeared a year or two ago. We’ll see.

 

Strawberry Candy Daylily

In my post of yesterday I mentioned my concern it was too cold for the petals of the first Strawberry Candy daylily flower to unfold. Luckily I was wrong. It was a bit chilly in the morning and it took the flower a bit longer to unfold than usually. The afternoon was nice and warm and the flower unfolded to normal size.

More yellow/orange Daylilies

Yesterday morning there was three more flowers on the same stem. The other plant, with two stems, which I thought would be in a different color is today in bloom. Two flowers in the same yellow/orange color. Nice. These photos are from yesterday.

The Yellow/Orange Daylily

The second flower of the yellow/orange daylily in bloom.  The flower is 8 cm x 8 cm There are still 15 more buds.

Yellow/Orange Daylily

The first, of four different daylilies, is in bloom. It is the other one of two a friend gave me. She didn’t know the name of it. Neither have I been able to figure it out despite looking for images on the net.

Of my four different daylilies this Strawberry Candy is the only one to bloom this year. There is four stems. About 5-7 buds on each. It has been, and still is, so very warm. I have watered the plants every day but despite that I can see the leaves are turning yellow and many buds look very dry. Maybe I have given them too much water. I really hope there will be more of them than just one flower. Thumbs up 🙂
