All three daylilies are in bloom. All the other lilies have, because of the very warm temperatures, finished flowering already. Also the snails and beetles made them look sad as they ate both of the flowers and the leaves. I wonder if there is something I can add to the ground that would prevent the snails and beetles.
Catherine Woodberry Day lily. Or is it Woodbery or Woodbury or . . . you get the all three versions on Google.
Orange Daylily Hemerocallis
“Hemerocallis fulva, the Orange Daylily, Tawny Daylily, Tiger Daylily, Fulvous Daylily or Ditch Lily (also Railroad Daylily, Roadside Daylily, Outhouse Lily, Tiger Lily, and Wash-house Lily)”
The above information is from Wikipedia. I’ll just keep it simple and call it Orange Lily 😉
Strawberry Candy Daylily.
Good thing is there are no snails and beetles on this side of our house where the daylilies are. Only a cute hedgehog. Saw him yesterday at about 11 pm. We have not seen any, around here, for years. I read they eat both snails and bugs. Hmm, hedgehogs, they might be the solution to the snail/bug problem.
WOW! My Lily Lollipop (or is it Lollypop ? I see it written in both ways on the net. ) has two flowers on one stem. I was afraid there wouldn’t be any because of the lily beetle.
I read the plant profile for Lilium Lollypop. It says the stem is 60-70 cm, flower head size is large. Mines are very small. The stem is only about 15 cm. The flowers are smaller than the ones in my friend’s garden. I’m happy even with this baby size plant and flowers
I’m sure there will be more of them next summer. The plants will be strong standard height and the flowers will be large.
I have waited for my Lilies to bloom. On Friday night we returned home from Estonia after being away for four days. Yay ! They are in bloom. The Asiatic Matrix, the deep dark red ones, one of the yellows and the orange lilies. The Asiatics look so nice. I’m glad the lily bugs have left them untouched. The others have a lot of damages because of the Lily bug. The bug is quite beautiful in a rich nice red color but so hard to get rid of. I saw one today and thought I would take a picture of it but he was quick to disappear. Soon the day lilies also will bloom.
Today, it happened today ! My Catherine Woodbury Daylily, which I bought in the beginning of the summer, is in bloom. There will be sixteen flowers on two stems. As it’s raining now I still am looking forward to shoot some new pictures of the flower when sun shines. I’m so excited 🙂
Also the Strawberry Candy Lily, I bought last summer, is going to bloom in a week or two. I hope both will have some flowers at the same time. I’d love to shoot them in the same picture.
Last week a very kind woman gave me some lily plants from her garden. They too are really beautiful. They are ‘Brasilia Hybrid Oriental Lilies’. The white petals are delicately outlined in a soft pink. Can’t wait to see them next summer.
I now have lilies in nine different color 🙂
