Christmas Concert

We had the opportunity to go to a Christmas concert held at the St. John’s church in Helsinki. Listening to the beautiful Christmas songs sang by the boy and young men choir Cantores Minores in a church always is a powerful experience. On the way back home we made a quick stop just to shoot a couple of pictures of the Christmas decorations in Esplanade park. I am sure it will look even more beautiful in the dark.

Michael Grimm

Michael Grimm_1

Michael Grimm the winner of America’s Got Talent season five in 2010.

I have wanted this CD already for months. On Feb 8 I ordered it on CDON.COM. Today it arrived.

I’m happy and pleased. Now I’m able to listen to him also in the car.

I hope he will come to Finland and I’ll be able to see and hear him live 🙂

Helsinki Music Centre

Well, you know me guys 🙂 I hardly go anywhere without my camera. If I, for some reason, forget it I feel almost naked 😀 Yesterday we went to down town Helsinki in some errands. It was a nice sunny day and when we were driving by the music centre I told my husband to please, please stop. I want to shoot a picture of my own of the new, still under construction, Helsinki Music Centre.

The new music centre is very close to Finlandia Hall where I used to work for 22 years.  For as long as I worked there I remember all the talking about the need of a new place for the the orchestras. The project was, for many reasons, both on and off for several times. In October 2008 the founding stone was laid. The opening ceremony will be held on August 30.

Dansbandskampen 2010

. . om jag bara kunde. Tyvärr är jag inte bra på det.

Nu väntar jag redan på dansbandskampen 2011

“Snygeimmät Joulubiisit Paavalintsyrkassa”

Yesterday we were in Helsinki at the St. Paul Church. There was a Christmas concert organized by “The Stadin Slangi ry” and the St. Paul’s parish. The songs sung in Helsinki slang/dialect = Finnish full of words influenced by both Swedish and Russian languages and some English language as well. The concert is very popular. The church is for 800 persons. It was over crowded and still they told people to, please, squeeze, squeeze as there are still so many people outdoors. Unfortunately some had to go home. I felt sad for them as some may have come even from more far away than we did.
It snowed all day yesterday and the road condition was really bad. After the concert most had to literally dig their cars out of the snowdrifts. Back home, we had to shovel the path to the garage to be able to drive the car in.

ABBA The Show

Last night ABBA The Show gave a concert in Helsinki. I am sooo glad I was there. In 2004 when Björn Again was warming up for Shania Twain, in Helsinki, I thought that was the closest I’d ever get to ABBA. Last night was A B B A ! It was like turning in time back to the 70’s. Just "super duper". I have come to like Abba more and more all the time. Often when I am walking Canelo I listen to Abba. Always will . . . still when I’m 70, 80 and even over 90. Heh-heh Smile
