Winter Snow/Ice-Racing

On Saturday we went to watch the traditional, yearly winter snow/ice-racing arranged by ”Stadin Pärtsärit” at the Tattarisuo go kart track. This time there was neither snow nor ice. Also there was less participants and spectators as last time, two years ago, when I was there. The event is for old, vintage, mopeds and motorbikes. Most drivers are older guys but there also were some younger enthusiasts. My husband loves old mopeds and motorbikes. Unfortunately he is not able anymore to drive himself because of bad knees and hips. I usually go there for the opportunity to take some photos. It was a bit chilly. Minus 10 degrees Celsius. It is hard to take photos with mittens on. After almost one and a half hour my fingers were stiff so we left before the event ended.

Ice-racing

The traditional snow/ice-racing for old, vintage, museum age mopeds and motorbikes, arranged by Stadin Pärtsärit, was held in Helsinki at Tattarisuo go kart track yesterday. A perfect day for this kind of outdoor events. Sunshine, no wind, not too cold, only about minus 10 C.

On Wednesday 28th we visited the Motorcycle Museum of Finland in Lahti. It is about 100 km from where we live. They opened it five years ago and that is for how long we have been talking about to go there.

There are, of course, mostly motorbikes and bike stuff but some other things also. I liked the old school desk with attached chairs. Just like those we had at school. Another thing was the jukebox in the restaurant. Loaded with old time music. The waitress said you are allowed two play it. No coins needed. Just press the buttons to select. To me it both looked and sounded exactly like the one which was in the bar we used to gather at as teenagers. So while having lunch we listened to my teenage favorites. Many of the pieces I still love to listen to. The baked potato with prawns and salad was good. 

Old Motorbike Event 2013 July 26-28

It is the biggest yearly nationwide old motorbike event, This time arranged by the “Stadin Pärtsarit and VMPK Veteraanimoottoripyöräklubi” at Hotel Korpilampi Espoo. Many attendats stayed for the entire weekend at the hotel which is only about eight kilometer from where we live.

Leif is a member of the VMPK Veteraanimoottoripyöräklubi club. Of course he wanted to go there to meet friends from all around the country. As I had not been there for a very, very long time I said I go too. We decided to visit the event only for one day, yesterday.

Such a wonderful, warm, sunny day. Plus twenty nine degrees Celsius. The hotel is on the top of a small hill.  The bikes all were on the big parking lot outside the hotel. They had arranged for a tractor ride up the hill and down. Am I happy we waited for the tractor as the road up was quite steep in the beginning. Would not have been an easy task for me in 29 Celsius.

Since I have poor balance, this would be my kind of motorcycle.

After two hours I was ready to leave because it was as hot as in sauna bath up there. Walking down hill was easy. 

Classic Motocross

Some years ago we were many times each summer at classic motocross races. For the last three or four years we have not been to any. It really was nice to once again be at one. I love the atmosphere, the sound of the bikes, the smell of the fuel etc.

Can you believe that we on the way there, despite the navigator, got lost ! I can’t blame Leif because I set the navigator. Once we had to make a stop to wonder where we are and how to find to the motocross truck I stepped out to shoot a picture of the fields, so yellow of ‘Taraxacum sect. Ruderalia’ in bloom.

We arrived it in time for the start.

If it had not been for the Monaco Formula1 race at 3 pm we sure had stayed there for much longer.

Kauniala ajot 2013

Vuosi on vierähtänyt ja eilen ajettiin 12. Kauniala ajot. Lefa on ollut ajamassa niitä pari kolme kertaa mutta ei enää neljään viiteen vuoteen. Mieli teksi mutta lonkka ei kestä.Ajoilla hankitaan rahaa sotiemme veteraanien virkistysttoimintaa varten. Eli hyvän asian puolesta ajot. Ajo lähtee Helsingin kauppatorilta Kaunialan sairaalan pihalle.Sää oli lämmin ja aurinkoinen. Ohjelmassa mopojen ihailun, tuttavien tapaamisen lisäksi laulua, rosvopaistia lisukkeineen ja pullakahvit.

Sininen Monark. Lefalla on samanlainen punainen. Enimmäkseen tapahtumassa näkee pappa tuntureita. Suomen Pappa-Tunturi kun ovat järjestäjiä.

Jos lotossa tulee täysiosuma niin kuulemma tälläinen on toivelistalla korkealla 🙂

Noh kahdesta ei suomalinen luovo, Turun sinapista ja saunasta.  Näytti ihan toimivalta saunalta. Piipusta tuli savua ja ovesta höyryä kun lauteilla istunut mies avasi oven.  Lämmintä sanoi mies. En saanut siitä yhtään onnistunutta kuvaa kun kuvaajia oli, siinä vaiheessa, sen verran paljon.

Esiintymässä Juha Laitila sekä aina iloinen pirteä Tummat Silmät Ruskea Tukka Paula Koivuniemi. Molemmat muuten osallistuivat ajoon.

August 2009

Some updates for August.

It was nice having our neighbor’s son for a sleepover on August 6. There is a place, not far away from us, where people are training motocross. Also on the way there is a field for radio controlled airplanes. As he had never been to neither place we took him there. He really enjoyed the evening and so did we.

On August 12 we had the great honor and pleasure to again be invited to our friends for the annual crayfish party. Such a fantastic evening . . . sauna bath, swimming in the lake, delicious crayfish.

On August 22.-23.2009 the Motocross MX3 World Championship took place in Vantaa. We had planned to go there both days but were there only on Sun 23. It was a great event.

Mon 31, last day of August, was a nice wind for surfers. First time I happened to see a kite surfer. Looked sooo nice.

Classic Motocross Cup 16.6.2007 Heinolassa

Launtaina olitiin taas kerran yhdessä Classic Motocross tapahtumassa mihin “den kära gubben” oli ilmoittautunut vapaaehtoiseksi, ilmaiseksi lippumieheksi ihan vaan koska tykkää niin kovasti. Päätin kysyä lähteekö ystäväni Riitta mukaan koska hän sattui olemaan ihan meidän lähellä koirasitterinä. Oli tosi kiva että, hän innoistui lähtemään. Joten mökkiauton nokka Heinolaa kohti klo 7:00 aamulla Riitta, Lefa, Titi, Canelo ja minä. Päivä oli aurinkoinen ja lämmin. Riitan ja koirien kanssa löysimme ihanat ulkoilureitit mitä kiersimme kahdesti. Välillä käytiin autossa keitettämässä kahvit. Lenkkipolun varrella oli todella kaunis lampi hiekkarantoineen. Viihdyttiin siellä pitkään. Siellä oli kolme poikaa uimassa. Pojat olisivat halunneet Canelon uimaan mutta Canelo heittäytyi ujoksi eikä suostunut menemään veteen kun tassuja kastelemaan. Riittaa harmitti ettei ollut uimapuku mukana koska vesi oli tosi lämmintä.

Matkalla takaisin autolle näin tämän ison kauniin perhosen. Perhoskirjan mukaan tämä on Papilio machaon. En ole ennen nähnyt livenä. Onneksi Riitta oli mukana koska heitin lippiksen ja jätin Canelon ja sänttäsin perhosen perään jyrkää rinnettä pitkin ylös ja alas. Ajattelin että, otan kuvia vaikka kamerassa on perhosen kuvaukseen väärä linssi. En päässyt hyvään kuvakulmaan eikä tästä tämän terävämpää kuva tullut. Toivottavasti saan kesän aikan vielä toisen mahdollisuuden kuvata Makaonperhosta. Tämä oli yksi suurikokoisista, upeimmistä Suomessa näkemistäni perhosista.

Enää 1 päivä niin olen lomalla ! One more day at work before my vacation ! En dag till semestern.

Scramble Weekend In Hyvinkää 16.9.2006

Canelo usually is not afraid of other dogs at all. On the contrary he is the one to start a “conversation”.

But this one he thought way to big and above all way toooo enthusiastic ! 

 

 My hubby loves the smell and the sound of the bikes. He never has been driving himself. Our son has and

still does sometimes. Canelo and I enjoyed ourselves strolling around as it was a bright and sunny, bit

chilly, nice day. I actually can enjoy myself mostly anywhere as long as I have my camera with me.

The drivers in the pictures, I must admit, I don’t know who they are.
