Lux Helsinki 2020 Light Festival

We have only been once before to the light festival event in Helsinki. I think it was six years ago. It may have been the first time it was arranged. This time the event is from 4.1. – 8.1.2020. The route starts from the Senate square where the Church is lit with the art SunWind. Then it continues for about a 2,5 km long route where are 8 more arts to experience. The opening was yesterday at 5 pm. There was a lot of people. At the second stop, The Bridge, the line was looong. It felt like I stood in line for hours. But, from there on it was easier. The weather was nice. No snow, not slippery but, the wind was a bit chilly. So happy I was wearing enough of warm cloths. After the stop at number 5, the Large Fire Tornado, which is a kinetic fire installation which flame reaches a height of 16 m, we went home. There are four more arts we didn’t see. So, we either go to see them or then not.

Goodbye Camper

Our camper 20190618_094846_HDRC

We have sold our camper. We bought our first (an old, used one) camper in September 2006. Canelo, our dog, was only 5 months when we made our first road trip to Lapland in the beginning of October. It was so nice. In spring 2010 we sold it and bought an other used one. But, after Canelo left us in March 2018 I just didn’t want to go out on the road anymore. Already last summer I suggested we sell the camper but, my husband didn’t want to. Now he too realized it was time to put it for sale. I’m happy we got it sold but, at the same time I feel a little bit sad. Thank you camper for all the wonderful road trips. Have many more with your new family.

Japanese Navy Training Ships

Sunday afternoon we went to Helsinki to have a look at the two Japanese navy training ships that visited Helsinki during the weekend. My husband wanted to go there already on Saturday but I needed a rest after the Friday tour to Iittala and on Saturday to both Kerava and Oittaa. I promised him, next time there will be a navy visit, we will go there and perhaps also be able to visit onboard. In my opinion all navy ships look the same. My husband says, no, no, they all are different. Hmmm, come to think of, he always says all my sunset photos look the same and I say no, no they all are different 😀

@ Ähtäri Snow Panda House (11 photos and 1 video clip)

The pandas, named Lumi and Pyry, arrived Finland in the beginning of this year. Yesterday we went to Ähtäri where they live. It was a long drive. Back and forth 704 km. The pandas were sleeping when we arrived. There was a lot of people. Everyone waiting for them to wake up. I heard a mom tell her two young daughters, who had got tired of waiting, to stop complaining. She said we will stay here and and wait for as long as it takes because we have paid a lot of money for this. Exactly what I had told my husband when he a few minutes earlier had wanted to give up waiting 😀 Then, suddenly, the other one, Pyry, woke and went out doors. Everyone hurried outdoors. Pyry knew there was hidden treats. He climbed the climbing frame up and down and found several of them. Aren’t you happy we stayed I asked my husband. Of course he said, I told you we shouldwait, didn’t I. Hah-hah-haa, so typical of him. I didn’t want to correct him and tell him which one of us said to wait 😉
