Great Spotted Woodpeckers
In the morning I heard a woodpecker pecking a tree somewhere in the neighbor’s garden. I quickly went in, grabbed my camera and back out. I still heard him but was unable to spot him. My neighbor was on the porch. I said I so wish I would be able to shoot a couple of photos. But, the sound disappeared. In the afternoon my neighbor called. She said, go look, there now are two woodpeckers. She was right. The two of them picking insects on the ground. I hope they will be back tomorrow or in a near future and I will be able to shoot better photos.

WeirdAntiques and The Lotta Museum
My husband has been talking about visiting the Weird Antiques for months. Yesterday we were there. A lot of stuff ! Old, cool, weird, second hand, vintage, movies, music . . . But, I didn’t shoot any of the weird stuff.
We noticed that the Lotta Museum is not far away. As we had planned to at some point go there, we thought it wise to do it right away. It was very interesting. Lot a nice old photos and old things. It hit us, we probably, after all, are a bit old. As so many things used in the 30’s and 40’s still were in use when we were kids.
Classic Motorshow, Lahti
The Classic Motorshow is a yearly happening held at Lahti Fair Centre. Lahti is an about one hour twenty minute drive from where we live. We don’t go there every year. We have been there twice, in 2006 and 2007, visiting the Caravan Fair and three times, in 2009, 2015 and now 2019 at the classic motorshow. My husband (I guess I have mentioned it before but, say it again) is a huge fan of all kind of old, classic vehicles. I like to go with him to the happenings. I like the atmosphere, the cars are nice and I get to take photos.
Jay – Garrulus Glandarius
During the years I have made countless attempts to, at least, get one good photo of a jay. But, no ! They are shy, they a super quick to fly away or they hide behind a branch. Today, I couldn’t believe my eyes. One sat in the apple tree right outside our bedroom looking right at me. It’s a gray rainy day. Maybe he wanted to come in. I grabbed the camera and shot a couple of shots through the window. Then went out to perhaps be able to shoot more photos. But, he already had moved on to sit high up in a tree on the neighbor’s side.
Happy 1st of May
The weather has been warm the last two weeks. I think it is the first time the cherry is in bloom this early. This is the 5th spring I am photographing this tree, my favorite cherry tree. It looked a bit smaller this time. My husband noticed one branch is gone. Maybe because of heavy snow. It almost looked like the apple would bloom extra early too. But, there has been a change in the weather. The temperature dropped from plus 20 Celsius daytime to about 10. Also we have had some night frost.
