Poor Amaryllis

Poor Amaryllis ! The stem broke. It’s now in a glass jug. I hope it still will have strength to bloom for some more time.

Wow ! I’m amazed. The Amaryllis we got for Christmas is in bloom, again. I have never had one blooming more than at the time of Christmas. And . . . there is one more stem coming up. I am already able to see there will be more flowers. It takes a long time so, maybe at Easter. The stem at Christmas was short. This time it’s very tall and the flowers so heavy that if I don’t put some weight (stones) in the basket it will fall over.

Sunrises

Two colorful sunrises. The other one on Fri 15^th and the other on Mon 18th. Today it has been raining all day. The sidewalks have been even more slippery than they have been for the last few days. I’m glad i didn’t have to go outdoors at all today.

Valentine’s Day

In the last issue of K Ruoka there was this recipe on princess pastries. I showed my husband and said look what I’m going to make for Valentine’s Day. Hmm, he looked a bit suspicious. Well, I made them today. Not all of them look pretty. It was difficult to cut them into neat squares. But, they are good 🙂

Runeberg’s Tarts

Today, February 5^th, we are celebrating the birth of our national poet J.L. Runeberg. The tradition is to have Runeberg’s tarts. For the last seven years I have made them myself. So also this year. I think the best ones so far 😉
