Here are some more photos from our tour to Turku/Åbo last Friday. There was a lot to see both at the Maritime museum and the ship S/S Bore. Bore nowadays is both a hostel and museum. The climb all the many, steep, narrow steps up to the museum part was pretty exhausting. But worth it. The view from the command bridge over Aura river is nice. When editing the photos at home I saw I unfortunately had cut the jib boom and the main mast when photographing the ship model of Herzogin Cecilie. A ship my father in law sailed in the end of the 20’s beginning of the 30’s.
I know someone else who would also love to see there 😁 (read: my husband.) they both look like very nice places, thank you for sharing the pictures and info!
You both should go there. There is so much to see and explore. We probably will go back next summer because I want to visit the sailing ship Suomen Joutsen which was closed at the time we were there.
What a cool museum! I love the photo of the globe, and I want to sit at the bar!
Thank you Tokens of Companionship. I agree, very cool museums. At home, when I resized the photo of the globe, I noticed the feet or maybe they should be called paws of the stand/feet of the globe. The museum parts of the ship has old time charm and elegance. But, oh those bar stools. To me they look difficult to stay on. Especially if rough sea.
