Snowing . . .

On Tuesday when we changed from summer tires to winter tires it was snowing a little. Not much but, just enough to barely cover the sidewalks so that they looked white. Last night, when I was awake at about 2:30 am I looked out and saw it was snowing. In the morning there was about 2-3 cm of snow. It’s still snowing. Now there is about 7-8 cm. Well, it will not last because weather forecast for the weekend is rain.

Sunset

On Thursday was the most stunning sunset in a long time. When we, Canelo and I, came down to the lake there was already many others. Everybody shooting lot of photos. I always, always have a camera and also my phone but this time I had no camera and not even my phone. Argh, grrr ! Yesterday half way down to the lake I saw there was an other beautiful sunset. Not as stunning as the day before. I told Canelo to, please, hurry, hurry, hurry. But, we were not quick enough and missed it by only about 3-4 minutes. Hopefully tonight will be yet another gorgeous sunset. Either way, I will be there in good time, cameras and phone ready 🙂

Completely Cats ~ Stories With Cattitude

Completely Cats Stories With Cattitude CJacky IMG_3847CCI read about this book on two different blogs I follow. The other one is Katzenworld and the other Rohvannyn, Mindflight who also does have a story in it. I ordered it online from Adlibris and it arrived last week. I began reading it in the beginning of this week and have, so far, read two stories. I am sure I will like all of the stories and the illustrations are so very cute. Good thing is. Each book purchased will help support work of International Cat Care. Today I saw Jacky using the book as a pillow when napping. My husband says he thinks I should, every evening, read one story at bedtime for Jacky.

Herring Market ~ Silakkamarkkinat ~ Strömmingsmarkanden

The traditional Herring market will be held annually at the Market Square. The oldest traditional event in Helsinki has been held since 1743. The fishermen working on the Baltic Sea will once again bring their salted herring to market, as well as a delicious selection of herring marinades from rowan berries to red pepper. Of course, you can also find delicious dark bread in the archipelago style, clothes made from the wool of island sheep, and other handicrafts. Not to forget the tasty market food!”  The text is from the Visit Helsinki site.

It’s a few years since we last went there. It was not raining on Saturday so it was a good day to go there.

Sirkus Finlandia ~ Circus Finlandia

We ordered a news paper and were offered free tickets to Sirkus Finlandia. We tried to recall how many years ago since we went to a circus. It must be about 35 years ago. Also then it was to Sirkus Finlandia. After such a long time we really found it very fun and enjoyable. Specially to see and hear how much all the kids enjoyed it made me smile ear to ear. One little one, I think he was only about 9 – 11 months old. Hi was not yet able to stand by himself. His dad held him standing on his lap. The little one laughed, jumped up and down, screaming of joy all the time. So cute. And, I can tell it felt my husband was one of the kids. He too, cheered, applauded and laughed a lot. The motorcycle stunt in a steel ball with five young stunt drivers at the same time was huge. Photographing was allowed but no flash. My photos are what they are.

Old Cars

A week ago, last Thursday, before we went to take photos of the murals we visited the automobile and road museum Mobilia in Kangasala. It had been on our bucket list already for years. We once, about 20 years ago, went there just to fin out it was closed. There was many cars, all kind of cars. I liked the rally cars from the 60’s and 70’s. Cars like Cortina, Escort, Mini and Volkswagen 1500. It was interesting and nostalgic to see and read about both the cars and the drivers. I was pretty interested in rally back then but not so much anymore. Now I’m a huge Formula 1 fan. It is an about 150 km drive from where we live. In the morning the fog was very thick. When we were ready to drive back at about 2 pm, via HĂ€meenlinna, the fog still was thick, almost like milk. Luckily just some 10 minutes before HĂ€meenlinna it disappeared.
