The Tall Ships Races 2017 in Turku/Åbo (part 1 of 3)

From Kotka the ships sailed to Turku for a four day stay from Thursday 20th to Sunday 23rd. The weather was warm and nice. The parade of sails took place from about 2 pm, when the first ships sailed down the Aura river towards Airisto, to 6 pm. Next they will be in Klaipeda in Lithuania.  I was on my feet for 8 hours ! My goodness my back and feet hurt. But, it was so much worth it 😀 I, of course, also this time took way too many photos. Here are a few from the festival area along side the river. I will post more soon from the parade of sails.

The ship with the seamen climbing is a replica of the Russian frigate Shtandardt. The pirate, I think, was performing on his own and not a sailor. Many wanted to have photos/selfies with him.
