I have been down with a flue for a bit more than a week. So I was not sure would I have the energy to bake any Shrove buns. But, somehow I managed to make some after all.

Meringue Roses
Finally I managed to make meringues that were not chewy, too dark, or went into a thousand pieces as soon as you touched them 🙂 The meringue was perfect but the roses did not look like the roses in the Pirkka magazine. Check who photobombed my last two pictures 😉 Good he didn’t touch them 😀 I need to stop baking. Bad for my weight 😦

Kite Skiing
Yay ! Sunny, warm winter day. Only minus one Celsius 🙂 Perfect for outdoor activities. I saw a guy kite skiing on the lake. He soon made good speed and disappeared in the distance. Weekends, if nice weather, there often are several skiers. Looks so nice nice with all the colorful kites.
Blueberry Muffins
I still do have plenty of blueberries in the freezer. Last fall many of our wonderful friends brought us blueberries they picked themselves. I saw a blogger, I follow, had made blueberry muffins which inspired me to immediately go make some 🙂 I dusted them with powdered icing sugar but because the berries on top were frozen they quickly melted and so did the sugar.
Jacky
Last Sunday when I was photographing the Runeberg tarts Jacky was a bit too eager about what was going on. He almost had the backgrounds fall on them. I had to put him in the bedroom until I finished. As soon as I was done I opened the door and let him hop up. He immediately laid down and was ever so happy to finally get to do what he wanted. Of course I took a couple of pics of him too.
February 5th
Look, also this year I made Runberg’s tarts ! Because today we celebrate the birth of the national poet J. L. Runeberg.
Hmm, I think I should have let them stay a few more minutes in the oven.
