Yesterday we visited the mill in Verla together with friends. Verla, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1996, is about 170 kilometer northeast from us. Oh my, the weather Gods had programmed rain and wind with gusts for the entire day. Despite the rain we had a great day. The site is beautiful and the 1 h guided tour was so interesting. To my surprise and disappointment photographing inside the mill was not allowed.
The guide told us working there was so hard. Very long working hours, very heavy materials, extremely cold in parts of the mill and extremely hot in other parts. Good I was not at work there !
The gray spots in some the pictures are raindrops on the lens. My friends said the owner’s residence reminds of the house in the Hitchcock movie.
what a gorgeous site! (again something i had not heard of before, oops.) and now that you mentioned it, i couldn’t take Hitchcock movies out of my mind when i see these pictures. even the weather was appropriate for a Hitchcock movie! 😀
Neither did I know about the site but a friend of mine suggested the visit there. If you ever go to Kouvola then Verla is only about 25 km away or maybe you will make a trip just to Verla. Worth visiting. Yes, the weather was appropriate for it 😀
That is an interesting place. I enjoyed looking at the link too.
Thank you. I’m glad you looked at the link too 🙂
