Yesterday we went to down town Helsinki for a vintage tram ride which we already planned to do last summer. We sat in the open wagon/trailer which is from 1919. It was strange and a bit scary. I would have felt much more comfortable wearing both a helmet and a seat belt. You could feel the draft of the passing cars and trams. I was happy to sit on the side of the sidewalk. It was not a smooth ride. It was a lot of swaying and rattling. I kept my fingers crossed for it not to fall of the rail. During all the ride I had to hold on to the seat with my other hand and with the other one I took pictures. Understandable I had to delete many because they were too blurry. Anyway, it was interesting and worth the price. The old trams has the old elegance but the nowadays trams are more comfortable.
ooo, that looks so nice! i’ve always only seen it from afar, have not yet tried it myself. did Canelo enjoy it, even when it was a bit scary? 😀
and oh, thank goodness nowadays the trams are more comfortable. imagine having to ride that old version in the winter. brrrrr!!
wonderful pictures as always, thank you so much for sharing your experience!
