The chives are in bloom. Well, they have been already for some time. I removed the last ones today. I don’t know from where or from whom I’v learned that you better pinch the flowers for stronger chives. That is what I have been doing all these years.
Today I looked up for more information on them on Google and found out the flowers are edible. Well, many flowers are so why not these as well. It actually makes sense. I found some recipes for Chive Flower Omelette, Potato Salad with Chive Flower Mayonnaise and many more. You can use them to bring color and flavor e.g. in mashed potatoes.
It would have been interesting trying out some dishes with chive flowers. I will have to wait to next summer for that.
