2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 6,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 10 years to get that many views.

Thank you WordPress stats helper monkeys so much for the annual report of how my blog did in 2012. People from 65 countries have viewed my blog ! A big thank you to all of you !

 I wish you all A Wonderful Year 2013 !

Sphynx Cat and Corn Snake

Sphynx IMG_3281_1

A week ago or so our son told us one of his friends now have a new family member. A cat, a one and  a half year old Sphynx/Sphinx. Today I had the opportunity to meet her. Such an adorable, lovely cat. Her skin was so soft and warm and smooth.

What I didn’t know was that he also has two snakes. This one I think he said is a corn snake. The other one I already forgot what kind of snake ha said it is.

I do have a fear for snakes. If there is a program on TV about snakes I switch to an other channel. I find them scary and creepy. They make me shiver with discomfort. In the spring when our niece visited us we all went to the zoo. She was so excited to see the snakes. Patti, you would have loved to get to hold these snakes in you hands 🙂

When Pepi took the snake out from the terrarium to show me I wanted to tell him not to. I’m happy I didn’t and happy I was able to touch it. Yes, wow, I touched a snake !  I don’t think I’m going to learn to love snakes no matter how beautiful they are in color and patterns.

Thank you Pepi for showing me your pets 🙂

Christmas Tree

Back to having a Christmas tree. A real one.

Three Christmases ago we decided we would not buy a tree for Christmas anymore. Okay truth is I decided. I had had enough of all the needles there always was all over the house, even in the food and in the beds. Leif was not happy about the decision but he gave in after I told him a small plastic tree, to put on a table, would be okay. Off he went to buy a small one. Oops, I should have told him how small or how a big one to buy. When I saw what he had bought I couldn’t believe my eyes. Such a tiny one ! For three years only Christmas tree we have had is this very small, fifty centimeter high, plastic tree.

On Tuesday or Wednesday the doorbell rang. There was our, always kind and helpful, neighbor Sari with a Christmas tree. Our son has worked in the same company for one and a half-year. He had already left so Sari brought his “gift” tree on her way home from work. Thank you Sari. So sweet of you.

Quam IMG_3237_1Quam was on the couch following my doings with great interest all the time I “decorated” the tree. When I had finished he jumped down from the couch and went to lay down under tree to sleep.

I do admit a real tree makes a difference. It smells so good. It smells like . . . like Christmas 🙂 Who knows, maybe we also next year are going to have a Christmas tree.

Happy Holidays everyone !

”Mini Cruise” to Tallinn 12.12.12

We were on a mini cruise to Tallinn yesterday.  We went by the ferry Viking Xprs from Helsinki at 11:30 am.  Capacity 2.500 passengers. I really believe there was that many as it was crowded.

Thank God the weather was good. Anyway had it been a snowstorm I would have stayed at home.  The day was cloudy and dark but, yes, fortunately the sea was calm.

We arrived at 2 pm. After waiting for the free Viking Xprs bus, that never came, we walked  to the old town as I wanted to experience the ‘Jouluturg’ the Christmas Market at the Old Town Square.  It was very nice and beautiful. I liked it.

Soon we had to return to the ferry for the departure at 6 pm.  We were hungry and looking forward to have the Christmas buffet. It was sooo delicious. Just check the menu

At home at about 9.45 pm. Son, cats and Canelo were happy to have as back. Canelo of course was absolutely overjoyed.
