Flu season

Yes it is the time of the year when the flu viruses love running around and competing in hitting as many as possible down with it.

My son was down with a terrible flu about three weeks ago. So I really was not very surprised when I about ten days ago, got my first symptoms.

It all began with a sore throat. It was hard swallowing. Two days later it was time for the sneezing and runny, stuffy nose. By the way, there’s an ad on TV I really dislike. A man is sitting in his office, the room is filled up with used paper tissues. An other version of the ad is the same man sitting in his car which of course is filled with used paper tissues. I find the ad distasteful. The ad’s for Otrivin Nasal Spray. The Otrivin is a very good medication. I use it often and have used it for years. The reason I don’t like the ad is because of the used tissues. Am I strange ? Is that abnormal ? Now I was kind of in the same situation. I had to use hundreds and hundreds and again hundreds of tissues. Every time I had to blow my nose I had the vision of the ad on my mind. I almost was able to feel myself trapped in a room filled with used tissues. Ugh ! Then there was still the coughing ! I was quite sure I would have my ribs cracked. It was hard. It was tiring.

Now, thank goodness, I feel good. I feel the energy coming back. I’m so glad it’s over 🙂 I sincerely hope you people will be lucky not to get the flu.

On A Calm Day

The lake on a calm, partly cloudy fall day. Beautiful, lovely, peaceful view. I wonder how it had looked if there had been sunshine from a clear blue sky.

I wish the small red sauna would be mine. Also I would love to own a small rowboat. It would be so lovely to on summer evenings be slowly rowing out on the lake in the sunset.

This glassy-smooth mirror picture is so nice I would not want to break it by going out rowing.

What Flower ?

Our very dear friends visited us yesterday. They brought us a bouquet of these very exotic, beautiful, orange-yellow flowers. A flower I had not seen before. Thank you so much 🙂

I thought I would be able to find the name of the flower on the internet browsing for orange-yellow flowers. I soon realized it an impossible task as there are thousands of orange-yellow flower pictures. Next time I go to the mall I will show one of my pictures at the flower shop there or if anyone of you happen to stumble into my little place and you know the name of the flower I very much would appreciate you letting me know.

Dear friends, thank you for coming. It was great having you here.

Virginia Creeper

Yesterday was a very gray and drizzly day. This fiery red Virginia creeper at the Lady Line gym entrance really cheered me up and made me smile.

It’s unbelievable how high up this plant can climb. I’ve seen it on six to seven story tall buildings. According to Wikipedia, it can climb as high as 30 m.

New Litter Box

Finally, at last ! New hooded litter box 🙂 We bought it on Monday.

Both of our cats, Quam and Quismo, were very curious about what was going on when I took the old litter trays out and the new one in. I can tell the cats, at first, were not overjoyed about the new box at all. I don’t know what the problem was. Only thing I can think of is it’s dark inside ! I took the flip door off to let them get used to the box.

It is a very large box with enough of room to turn around. So far Quam let Quismo do his business there in privacy but when Quam goes in Quismo goes in too. Poor Quam. He does not want the company in there.

The cats are by now feeling much more confident so I put the flip door back. I’m happy. Now they are not able to throw the litter out from there. I wish I had bought one already long ago.

There’s one small thing I noticed, which I read about in the customer reviews as well, I’m not the only one with one of the clips that holds the lid on comes off every time i empty it.

Crispy oatmeal cookies

I don’t think that I have ever made any kind of thin oat cookies. At least I’m not able to recall it. These originally are coming from Sweden. Today I saw a recipe in a Finnish magazine and decided to make some. I already had mixed all the dry  ingredients except the rolled oats when I noticed that we had run out of the oats. Luckily we had the four different grain mix of flakes (= oat, wheat, barley and rye) in the kitchen cupboard which I used instead.  The cookies in the picture in the magazine from where I took the recipe are much more beautiful than mine are. My cookies look grayish. I think it’s because I didn’t use oat.

Leif says not to worry. They are yummy. Good. Whatever I’m going to bake next I sure will check that we have all ingredients needed at home.
